Welcome! The Mahomet 47s are a new baseball club in Mahomet focused on player development and fair playing opportunities.
Tryouts will be hosted for ages 12U for the 2025 season.
REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UP TO THE TIME THAT TRYOUTS BEGIN.
Note: Your 12U player cannot turn 13 before or on April 30th, 2025.
Please bring your own glove to tryouts. Some bats will be provided. Tryouts will last 2 hours, although you may leave at any time.
Please check in at the registration table to verify complete paperwork and to receive a tryout number.
Please wear a baseball cap, polymer cleats, a t-shirt and an athletic cup.
Players will be evaluated based on their individual athletic ability, attitude and hustle based on a proprietary formula developed by the coaching staff, with objective criteria.
Coaching staff shall notify selected tryout participants within 48 hours of the tryout and each player shall have no more than 24 hours in which to accept an invitation to join the team.
Depending upon the turnout, players may be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once the roster is filled, the coaches may notify players who were not selected, and provide feedback.
By registering my child for the Mahomet 47s Baseball Club, I agree to
abide by the following Guiding Principles and to promote these Guiding
Principles to my child. I further agree that violating these principles
may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the
Team.
Guiding Principles (Players and parents)
* The 47s is a skills development team that will afford equal playing
time to players, to the greatest extent possible.
* The 47s motto: "improve as players; improve as a team; have fun"
* Practices shall not exceed one hour.
* No unsanctioned practices. No parent or other person shall organize
or conduct a uniformed practice without coaching staff being present.
* Complete batting order. All players will bat in each game unless injured.
* Rotational position play. All players will be rotated through the
defensive lineup in games, to improve their appreciation for all aspects
game of baseball.
* Inclusive pitching. All players who are willing will be given the opportunity to pitch in games.
* Non-starters will be evenly substituted in games.
* No daddyball. No coach or assistant will base playtime decisions on
preferential treatment of their child.
* Zero tolerance for bullying or other misconduct, on and off the field.
* Zero tolerance for whining or negative attitudes (there is no crying in baseball).
* Hustle is required - the other teams may outplay us, but they will not outwork us.
* The Mahomet 47s Baseball Club reserves the right to modify these
principles, provided notice and a fair hearing.
